There is a group of Rotarians in the area of Washington and BC Canada who belong to the district of Rotary number 5060. They have been meeting together for awhile in a committee called the Environmental Sustainability Committee for the good of Rotary. Over time since 2018, they have met regularly to come up with ideas on preserving the environment and following Rotary International’s goals of Preserve Planet Earth. Many Peace parks and gardens have been created since then throughout district 5060 including this one featuring organizers Gary Soles and Sherry Chamberlain at the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops, BC Canada.
Rotary district 5060 governors have expanded on projects and concepts and to create service work that benefits all communities. In recent years the Pollinator Highway project has transpired. The goal is to get all communities creating pollinator focused gardens that not only beautify neighborhoods but helps our pollinators with more food choices and expanding their reach. The Rotary District 5060 Pollinator Highway concept was developed to encourage Rotary clubs to step up and get out into nature and build healthy ecosystems. We hope this concept will spread through out Canada and USA. For contact information please reach out and visit www.rotary5060.org
